Dartmeet Climb (aka Coffin Stone)

Not for the faint hearted, here is the profile for the incredibly steep Dartmeet climb

I did this on Bank Holiday Monday. It is so steep (and I am a little unfit) that at one point I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to unclip but I was barely generating enough forward motion to keep gravity at bay!

Other things to be aware of:
– be careful if you stop at the bottom for a cake stop or just to sit by the river (you are at a local beauty spot) as the strava segment starts before the bridge I think. I am slow but even I did better than 1.3km per hour!
– as lovely as the cream tea at Badgers Holt cafĂ© was it probably wasn’t the best ‘fuel’ for the climb to come!

The climb is brutal but the scenery is stunning – here are some pics:

We did this on our Bromptons last july. I had to stop a couple of times but my friends motored up.
